The
story of Questy at the edge...

Welcome
to the edge, where time begins, and the universe ends. The edge is where
all ideas are born, and nothing dies. Energy cannot be created nor only
change it's form, the edge forms the formless."
All great philosophers must deal with matters of the heart
as well as the soul........
A want can be a passing thing,
a thing that comes and goes,
A need can also be so fleeting,
something that never grows,
But love is much, much different,
it grows stonger every day,
It tests the boundaries of time and space,
our work, our life, our play.
Questy
and Krystal, both the chosen because they are fearless, and bold, yet
very much afraid.
"What
the hell kind of monk are you?" asked Krystal
"Peraquestian!"
replied Questy
"Peraquestian,
can't say I ever heard of that."
"It
is one who goes beyond the quest, it is one who journeys beyond the
possibilities."
"Sounds
like hocus pocus bull to me" shot back Krystal
Questy
smiles not merely because of the words, but because of the tone that
reflects the innocence, the mannerisms that reflect the power. Questy
knew she believed him, but the rough exterior tries to show otherwise.
Questy
explained, "It has been my calling since a child the age of 12,
when kids would pick on me at school, rather than respond in the usual
childish manner, I would read the works of the great philosophers and
look there for answers. Rather than take the simple answer I would look
for wisdom, and use that as the answer, of course people would perceive
me as being strange, I was too young then to understand the wisdom,
yet some how realized the wisdom was there to be used. I was too young
back then, too unwise back them to realize the beauty of the wisdom,
much like you are now."
Krystal's
response was the ear to ear grin that Questy had come to interpret with
such great meaning. Here again he came to realize, the was the non answers
to the questions that became more important that the questions.
Questy
continued once again, "But now I am enlightened, as I look into
your eyes, I see the many experiences of your life, I see the smiles,
the laughter, the pain. I also still see the innocence your refuse to
admit. The innocence of the knowledge without the wisdom."
Questy
paused, the silence of the moment communicated far more than words ever
could as Questy and Krystal exchanged smiles. The beauty was in understanding
the true meaning of he silence. "As we rethink what we are doing
here today, the wisdom is in not trying to understanding all that is
here before us, but in aligning the questions."
"Now,"
interrupted Krystal, "that's where I can look at it scientifically,
beyond the metaphysics to the physics. Setting up theories from which
we can reason, setting up an experiment if you will. Kind like a real
science lab?"
"In
a way," pondered Questy, "in a way. The overlords will remove
you from a theme area if at there discretion you are being disruptive.
Disruption is tolerated only to the extent that it doesn't disrupt the
theme of the park"
Krystal
commented, " that this isn't fair!"
Questy
reminds her, "fairness is impossible to achieve in the minds of
everyone. Fairness is truly a relative term. Things just are, and things
must be for the common good, and in many of lands, the common good often
supersedes the wants of the individual. In our own society your freedom
to do as you please must not infringe upon someone else's rights to
do as they please, what you perceive as fair is quite relative. Krystal,
the reason we are here, and the reason we are together, is that we compliment
each other, not only for what we are, but who we are."
"Now
what the hell is that supposed to mean?" replied Krystal
"Now
think about it," answered Questy, " the scientist and the
philosopher, looking at what this all means from your perspective, as
well as mine, form what we are, but yet I think these beings realize
we are people, we are individuals who will not let this opportunity
go to waste, there have been many times when I felt that my life was
not my own, there have been many situations in life in which the wisdom
was born of pain. Your arrogance, your cockiness, your smile tells me,
you are the type of person who will not let this opportunity go to waste,
you will make the most of it."
Krystal
was always questioning her hosts for more information. Questy, on the
other hand appeared less serious, just by his facial expressions. Questy
seemed to have a permanent smile on his face, whether just in disbelief,
or just in thinking the entire situation as humorous. Their differences
in body as well as mind, seemed to be their attraction as why they teemed
up so well together. It seemed part of the plan, the suprahabs wanted
to see how two different types of terrahabs from different environs
would react when forced into strange situations.
All that could be said about human nature would be expressed by the
closeness that would develop between Questy and Krystal. As a team they
would be processed, packaged, and programmed to the flow of Infinitas
life.
"Do you understand this physiological programming of the regeneration
bit?" Inquired Questy
"It
sounds logical enough" replied Krystal, "like a computer program
stored in your DNA, they are able to change certain bits of information
which allows your body to attain complete regeneration."
"Do
you mean medicine is obsolete here? Like they've cured cancer? You fix
yourself automatically when you're sick? It's like the ultimate in antidotes?"
"C'mon
Questy, I said It sounds logical man. but I'm not totally sure of its
complete capabilities. Its the Infa's way of vaccinating us against
anything that could go wrong with us physically."
"But
that doesn't necessarily mean immortality does it?"
"I
don't believe so, but hey man you're the philosopher, you tell me. That's
a question of your philosophy, not my scientific knowledge."
"what
do you mean?"
"C'mon
Questy, It's given new meaning to the phrase the end of the road. It
means we can't have our bodies destroyed by disease and decay, like
on earth. I don't know how it changes our concept of death."
"Krystal,
I know your ideas of science have been changed, and I'm sure my faith
will be tested, as I am no longer sure what death means."
"Hey
man, this is getting too heavy, are we ready to hit the streets?"
"What
kind of scientific method is hitting the streets?"
"What
the hell man, beyond the science, I'm ready for adventure."
"You
make me think, you make me laugh, what more can I ask of you?"
asked Questy
"Don't ask", responded Krystal
"Why
are you not happy?"
"I
am happy so don't ask again!"
And
Questy looked at Krystal and said, " I enjoy your company, so I
can say I won't ask again, but I will. May I talk of friendship in general?"
Krystal
did not reply so Questy continued, "Friendship is about sharing
a few laughs, and a few emotions, along a journey. It's about knowing
there's a shoulder to cry on, a smile to share. That's what it is, nothing
more, nothing less, it just is. I hope you continue to let me get you
to look at life in ways you never have before, I hope we are there to
make each other laugh, I hope we are both there as a shoulder to cry
on when the need arises. Those are the only expectations I have of friendship.
I don't know why it's so hard for some people to understand?"
